A Little About Me

My Practice
I graduated from The American University in Cairo with a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology. Since then, I have been practicing individual and group therapy for adults and late teens. I have experience working with clients struggling with anxiety, loss, life transitions, identity exploration, emotion regulation, and relationship issues. Importantly, I have been always interested in supporting individuals from diverse ethnic, gender, beliefs, sexual orientation, and cultural backgrounds. This breadth of experience has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the nuances of each person's lived experience. I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey that fosters personal growth and healing. I work with the "Person-Centered Approach" that focuses mainly on using the person's own strengths, values, and deep wisdom to overcome life challenges. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and other modalities to build a customized plan for each client. There is no generic, one-size-fits-all prescriptions here. Your background, beliefs, experiences, values, and preferences are highly considered. I will invite you to collaborate with me to create a customized roadmap that addresses your specific needs.
What I'm Like
I am a person who walked the same path myself. I know how it feels to be on the other side of the room, facing your own struggles and working to confront your inner demons. I understand the challenge of asking for help and finding the right person to open up to. As I walk this journey alongside my clients, I do so with the sensitivity and humility of someone who knows how hard and challenging the journey can be. I bring a heightened sense of understanding and attunement to our work together. Authenticity, transparency, and a touch of humor are woven throughout my practice. I value your input and encourage open dialogue, ensuring that your voice is central to our work. I also encourage deep exploration of thoughts and feelings by inviting you to delve into your emotions and experiences at your own pace. While I do have some structure to my sessions, I'm not rigidly adhering to a plan. I leave room for fluidity and exploration. You will find me actively listen and reflect back what I'm hearing, asking thoughtful questions to deepen our understanding. I also believe in gently challenging unhelpful patterns or perspectives when appropriate. Throughout our work, I'll regularly check in to ensure we're making progress towards your objectives.
